Web Standards Checklist

Posted by tment894 on November 29, 2007

I found a Web Standards Checklist that lists a lot of important items that MUST be addressed on every site that you develop to be standard-compliant.  It shows the breadth of web standards, is a handy tool for developers during the production phase of websites, and is an aid for developers who are interested in moving towards web standards.

Web Standards

Posted by tment894 on November 29, 2007

The Ten Reasons to Learn and Use Web Standards site explains the top ten reasons why you should learn and use web standards when creating websites.  I thought this site gave good pointers, and it summarizes what we have learned thus far in the WEBT143 class.

I also found an article titled “Developing with Web Standards.”  This article gives some recommendations and best practices for creating standard-compliant websites, showing how to separate structure ((X)HTML) from presentation (CSS).  This article also sums up everything we have learned in the WEBT143 class thus far.  I found this article to be very useful, and I will refer to it in the future.

MIMIC

Posted by tment894 on November 20, 2007

When searching for how to create accessible websites, I came across a website called Mimic, which shows how any webpage will look on a mobile device. If the page is highly accessible, it will probably be nicely readable on a cell phone or handheld device. I found this site to be quite fascinating and thought I would share it with everyone else. Try it out!

I found three web pages that I thought had useful information to consider when creating websites – effective websites, that is. I thought this information would be helpful for the WEBT143 final project.
